Get iTell on both phones

The iPhone app goes on the phone in your hand, the Android app on the phone that keeps the SIM in your bag. Install both, pair them once, done.

On a computer? Scan a code with each phone and it opens the right app.

The full guide

Safe to install, easy to check

Only from us

The Android app comes only from itellapp.com, over HTTPS; the iPhone app only from the App Store. If someone sends you iTell as a file in a chat, don't install it.

Signed, every time

Each APK carries our signature. Android checks it on every update and refuses an update signed by anyone else.

A checksum you can compare

The file's SHA-256 is printed on this page, so you can confirm your download is byte for byte the one we published.

Your data stays on your phones

Calls, texts and contacts go phone to phone over Bluetooth, end-to-end encrypted. They never reach our servers.

How the encryption works

What the Android app asks for, and why

Only what it needs to mirror the phone on your iPhone. You can see and change each one in Android's settings at any time.

Phone and callsTo ring your iPhone when a call comes in, and to make and answer calls with this phone's SIM.
SMSTo show your texts on the iPhone and send the ones you write there.
Contacts and call logTo show names, photos and recent calls on the iPhone, and to save the contacts you add there.
Nearby devicesFor the encrypted Bluetooth link to your iPhone.
NotificationsFor the quiet status notification that keeps iTell running in your bag.
Unrestricted battery useSo Android doesn't put iTell to sleep while the phone sits in your bag.
InternetOnly to sign in to your iTell account. Calls and texts never use it.

Before you ask

Why does Android warn me before installing?

Android shows that warning for every app that doesn't come from its own store. It's a general caution, not something it found in iTell. Allow your browser once; you can switch it off again afterwards.

Which phone do I start with?

Either. Install both apps; the pairing starts on the Android phone, which shows a QR code for your iPhone to scan.

How do I update the Android app?

Download the new APK from this page and install it over the old one. Your pairing and settings stay as they are.

Do I need internet?

To download the apps and sign in, yes. After that, calls and texts between the two phones go over Bluetooth and don't need it.

Will it work on my Android phone?

Texts, contacts and call alerts work on any phone with Android 13 or later. We've tested two-way call audio on Pixel 8a, Galaxy A54 and Nothing Phone (1); on OnePlus 5T calls are listen-only. The app checks your phone for you.
